2024 NC NBHA State Finals Information
Important Dates
- Online entries and reservations open October 14th at 7pm EST.
- Online pre-entries close on November 24, 2024, at midnight EST. Entries received after the deadline until the first horse runs in the class with a $30 late fee per rider.
- A 70% refund, less the processing fee, will be issued for scratch requests made between November 25 - December 4, 2024, and must include a valid Vet/Med note. All Vet/Med outs need to be emailed to justinhill1998@gmail.com.
- A full refund will be granted to scratch requests made prior to November 24, 2024 at midnight EST.
- NO refunds on entries after December 4, 2024.
- Exhibitions and Warm Ups will be sold online Monday, December 9th at 7pm EST.
Facility Arrivals
- The facility will open at 12pm sharp on Thursday, December 12th.
- No early arrivals.
Horse Paperwork Requirements
- 12 Month negative coggins required for ALL horses.
- 30 Day Health Certificate for all OUT OF STATE horses.
- Paperwork is subject to being checked by state veterinarians and/or their representatives. Please be prepared.
Personal Golf Carts, Crickets, and other Motorized Vehicles
- Personal golf carts, utility vehicles and crickets permitted.
- NO golf carts, crickets, or other motorized vehicles allowed in the barns. First offense= Warning. Second offense= Disqualification.
Qualifications for 2024 NC NBHA State Finals
- To be eligible to compete at the NC NBHA State Finals all participants must have competed in three NC NBHA sanctioned shows within their declared district since December 3, 2023.
- Direct any qualification concerns to your District Director, immediately.
Added Money
- The Open has $3,000 added to each long-go and $6,000 added to the Finals. The Senior championship round has $1,000 added. The Youth championship round has $2,000 added.
- Awards will be given to the Top 2 in each division of the Senior Championship Round, Top 3 in each division of the Youth Championship Round, and the Top 4 in each division of the Open Championship Round.
- Awards will also be given to the divisional winners of each Open Long-Go Round.
Class Information
- The Senior and Youth 4D are a 1 long-go championship round.
- The Open 4D will consist of 2 long-go rounds and a Finals. Open Round 2 will run in reverse order beginning with the add-ons. It will be a clean slate short go. If a rider qualifies in both go-rounds on the same horse, they will only make 1 run on a qualifying horse and show management will drop down to the next qualifying rider in the division of Round 2 to advance to Finals. A minimum of 15 qualifiers from each division from each go-round will advance to the Finals. The State Director reserves the right to take more contestants back to the finals in any given class after reviewing # of entries in the class. This will be posted and advertised prior to the start of the class.
- Dress Code for Open long-go rounds will be a NC State Show Sponsor T-Shirt, Western Attire, or Ugly Christmas Sweater. Sponsor t-shirts will be available for purchase on location prior to the first competition run.
- Senior, Youth and Open championship rounds and awards require a cowboy hat or helmet, long sleeve collared shirt, jeans, and boots.
- The Consolation Race will consist of contestants that did not qualify back to the Open Finals. Entries will be accepted until the first horse runs in the Consolation Race.
- Each divisional winner of the Consolation Race will be invited to run in the Open Finals. These entries will be added on to the end of the Open Finals draw.
- The No Penalty side pot is open to anyone entering in the Open long-go rounds and gives the contestant a chance to earn money with a hit barrel but completed pattern!
- Payback will follow NBHA rules, i.e. Total number of entries determines the number of payback positions. The purse is equal to all entry fees minus 30%, plus 100% of the added money.
Finalist Information

Stalls/RVs
- Stalls and RVs are non-refundable. You may privately sell them with notification to the state director by EMAIL at justinhill1998@gmail.com or by TEXT at (910) 705-6900.
- NO outside shavings allowed per the facility.
Haul Ins
- Tie-out/haul-ins are allowed at $10/horse per day.
- Haul ins must pay for all horses on the trailer, No exceptions.
Exhibitions & Warm Ups
- Exhibitions and Warm Ups are non-refundable. You may privately sell them with notification to the state director by EMAIL at justinhill1998@gmail.com or by TEXT at (910) 705-6900.
- Warm Ups will be limited to one per horse. For example, if you enter two horses, then you may purchase two warm ups. No refund will be granted for purchasing excess amounts.
- Exhibitions will be limited to TWO per horse. For example, if you enter two horses, then you may purchase four exhibitions. No refund will be granted for purchasing excess amounts.
- You may purchase Warm Ups and Exhibitions for the same horse.
- Exhibitions will have a time limit of 60-seconds each.
- Warm Ups will be in 30-minute intervals with 15 riders and barrels. Please be respectful of other riders.
More Information
- A horse may not be shown by more than one person in a class (exception: NBHA Family Rule see NBHA Rulebook Section A.11.).
- You must name your horse at time of entry, with registered names, where applicable. Entries with no horse name or names such as “Horse”, “TBD”, etc. will not be accepted.
- Horse substitutions must be made before the 1st horse runs in the class.
- Anyone substituting 2 or more horses after the draw will have their horses redrawn by the show office in their draw positions. The contestant also must pay a $50/fee/horse.
- Rider substitutions not permitted.
- Returned check fee = $35 plus any additional bank fees
- To be stalled together, online reservations must be submitted together.
- All entries must pay either a stall fee or tie-out/haul-in fee. No exceptions.
- In the event of a tie for first place in any championship class, a runoff, coin toss or agreement between riders and the State Director will determine the winner. Regardless of the winner of the tiebreaker, payback will be divided equally. State title, prizes, and other incentives will be awarded to the winner of the tiebreaker.
- Contestants have 3 minutes to begin their run from the time they are called.
- A 5% convenience fee will be assessed for all credit card transactions.
- Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
- ALL NBHA rules apply. See NBHA Rulebook for details.
- The decisions of Show Management will be final and binding.
